2006 United States Mint Set – New Jefferson Nickel Obverse Design

The 2006 United States Mint Set features uncirculated examples of every circulating denomination struck by the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. This year marks an important transition for the Jefferson Nickel, which debuts a new forward-facing portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the obverse while returning to the classic Monticello reverse. The set also continues the popular 50 State Quarters Program, offering ten State Quarters—five from each mint—honoring: Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The official mintage for the 2006 Mint Set was 847,361 sets, according to the official Red Book.

Alongside the updated Jefferson Nickel, the set includes uncirculated Lincoln Cents, Roosevelt Dimes, Washington Quarters, 2006 Kennedy Half Dollars, and the 2006-P and 2006-D Sacagawea Dollar. All coins are sealed in Mint-issued cellophane to maintain bright uncirculated luster, sharp strike details, and full mintmark visibility. The modern multi-panel Original Government Packaging (OGP) highlights the year’s denomination lineup while presenting each mint’s coins in an organized, collector-friendly layout.
